Corn salad is a real bomb of vitamins and nutrients and tastes really great. But what exactly is in it? We'll tell you.

The lamb's lettuce is one of the typical winter salads, but thanks to the greenhouses you can now buy it almost all year round. In Germany, the popular lettuce thrives in greenhouses in winter at a temperature of two to three degrees. In the southern regions of Germany, for example in Bavaria, the salad is also grown outdoors in some places. If there is snow in winter, the lamb's lettuce usually doesn't mind even small minus degrees. (Reading tip: growing lamb's lettuce - tips from sowing to harvest)
Ingredients of lamb's lettuce
The lamb's lettuce is definitely one of the healthiest types of lettuce, because it contains a large number of vitamins and nutrients. The vitamin C content is three times higher than that in lettuce. The lamb's lettuce is not only a real vitamin and nutrient bomb, it also contains no fat and is just 14 kcal per 100 grams. This makes it an important part of a healthy and figure-conscious diet.
In addition to vitamin C, lamb's lettuce also contains vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and vitamin B6. The minerals such as iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium are also particularly worth mentioning. But the secondary plant substances also make the lamb's lettuce so healthy. The beta-carotene acts as a natural radical scavenger and can therefore protect our body against harmful environmental influences.
Other phytochemicals are in turn able to lower the risk of cancer. The folic acid contained in the salad and various trace elements also support the cell formation in our body. Various essential oils are also contained in the lamb's lettuce. They are not only responsible for the good taste, the valerian oil can also strengthen the veins, for example.
