Growing potatoes yourself is not that difficult

Have you always wanted to grow potatoes yourself? Yes why not? It's not as difficult as you might think.

Grow potatoes yourself
Potatoes and of course many other types of vegetables from your own garden taste much better than the vegetables you buy. If only because you have lent a hand. So if you want to grow potatoes yourself, you should follow the step-by-step instructions below:

  1. From March, let the tubers germinate in a box filled with compost. Make the box dark and unscrew the already existing germs. Store the box at a maximum of 15 degrees. The basement is best suited for storage.
  2. From April it goes outside. New potatoes are planted in early April and the rest in late April. To do this, you have to dig a pit, add matured compost and place the tuber approx. 10 centimeters deep and at a distance of approx. 30 cm. You must then close the hole with earth again.
  3. As soon as you can see the first shoots, you need to weed and loosen the soil. If the plant is 30 centimeters high, you have to pile it up.
  4. If necessary, fertilize the potatoes with wood ash and shredded comfrey leaves.
  5. You can harvest the potatoes when the herb has died and you have waited another two weeks.

My potato recommendation
Last year we also grew potatoes for the first time and achieved excellent results with the “Linda” variety. Supposedly a classic where you can't do much wrong. I had ordered the variety from the Pötschke shop.
