With its yellow flowers, winter jasmine conjures up a touch of spring in the garden. Read here about where to plant winter jasmine and how you should take care of it.

Winter jasmine has yellow flowers

Yellow flowers

When there is no longer any flowering in the garden, the winter jasmine - flowering from around December (in a milder climate) to early April - delights its owners with a yellow bloom. It should not be confused with the spring blooming forsythia.

Flowering house plants

The easy-care climbing plant is ideally suited for flowering house plants during the cold season. Winter jasmine is ideal for house walls, archways, wicker fences and the like. It is extremely popular as a winter herbaceous plant.

And even from April to October, the glossy green, lush foliage of winter jasmine looks extremely elegant. During this time, the winter jasmine also forms black berries, which, however, are less visible in the foreground.

Site selection:
The winter jasmine needs a nutrient-rich soil, which, however, should not store water (such as clay soils) so that the frost really cannot harm it. In addition, a sunny to partially shaded, well-protected location should be selected in order to achieve a really rich bloom in the winter wood.

Tip: Cut branches just before blooming and bring them into the living room. Combined with a little fir green, this results in a pretty bouquet of vases.

"Climbing aids:
In principle, the winter jasmine should be provided with enough climbing aids around which it can meander or be tied to it. In this way, it easily reaches a height of up to 5 meters.

"Pruning in spring:
A regular pruning in spring (after the frost days) promotes its branching sustainably and the non-scented winter jasmine is brought into the desired shape.

Furthermore, some lime and compost should also be added to the soil during this time, which is good for winter jasmine.
